Meet Our Pastor: Rev. Steven Rhodes
Rev. Steven Rhodes answered the call to ministry in 2015, as a Kelley Chapel
United Methodist Church member, under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr.
Derrick Rhodes. Rev. Steven Rhodes served for five years as one of Kelley Chapels Pulpit
Ministers, where he taught Sunday School, preached, led worship, and taught the
senior noonday Bible Study. Rev. Steven Rhodes has been a certified candidate for ministry
in the United Methodist Church since 2016.
In 2022, after leaving Kelley Chapel UMC, he went on to become the Young Adult Minister at Ben Hill
United Methodist Church. During his service at Ben Hill Rev. Rhodes became licensed as a Local Pastor
by the North Georgia United Methodist Annual Conference.
Minister Rhodes currently serves as the Pastor in Charge at Popular Springs United Methodist Church in
Atlanta, Georgia.
Minister Rhodes is passionate about teaching and building resilient disciples of Christ;
he believes this is the foundation for his service within the church and in the community.
Minister Rhodes values making resilient disciples in Christ by focusing on character,
integrity, compassion, and a commitment to faith.
Minister Rhodes is a native of Greensboro, NC. At a young age, he moved with his
parents to Atlanta, GA, where he grew up and attended school. He received a full track
& field scholarship to Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama, where he also
played football and completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education.
Minister Rhodes received a full academic scholarship to Emory University’s Candler
School of Theology, where he finished his theological education and graduated with a
Master of Divinity degree.
Minister Rhodes is the proud father of two: Selena Rhodes (5) and Steven Rhodes (8),
with whom he enjoys spending quality time.
Minister Rhodes has been described by those closest to him as a voracious reader. He
enjoys cooking and volunteering in his spare time and has a black belt in Hapkido. He is
also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge
#881.
Minister Rhodes aspires to continue building God’s Kingdom on Earth by focusing on teaching others
how to choose behaviors and lifestyles that align with the image of Christ: mentorship,
honesty, compassion for others, commitment, integrity, consistency, willingness to collaborate,
and meeting people where they are in their spiritual journeys (with the ultimate goal of
leading them to Christ).
